Monologue-Dialogue

Best Half Foot Forward

(1)So we’re at the International House of Pancakes, and that’s when it happened.

(2)Elaine did the most amazing thing. She sneezed and coughed at the exact same time. You could hear the sneeze and you could hear the cough, but there was no way to separate the two. So she’s sitting there excusing herself and running her sleeve under her snout, but what she didn’t notice is that she horked this huge oyster onto the corner of her French toast.(3) I saw it. Dave saw. (4) What do you do in a situation like that, I mean you can’t just lean over to someone and say, “uh excuse me Elaine, but you seem to have deposited a huge chunk of mucus onto the corner of your French toast.” She didn’t even look down  as she speared the corner of it, brought it to her mouth and… (5) Well, needless to say Dave and Elaine broke up a few weeks later and I haven’t even looked at an IHOP ever since.
